On Saturday, 30th July 2022, the KSA Space Club team, in partnership with Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) held a STEM outreach and mentorship programme at Upperhill High School with over 20 schools across Nairobi in attendance.
The outreach and mentorship programme exposed the students to STEM education and related careers, inquiry based learning through practical activities to inspire and encourage young people to pursue STEM subjects to advanced levels.
The facilitators from KSA took the students and teachers through interactive sessions on Earth Observation, IT& Robotics, Space Science and Astronomy and careers in STEM.
YSK took the students and teachers through sessions on Chemistry, Biology and Physics through live demonstrations.
The students and teachers also participated in a planetarium show by KSA where they were able to learn about the Solar system and planets.
The main objective of the education and outreach programme is to highlight the skills needed to ensure a competent and enthusiastic workforce for the highly technical space industry.
