The Ag. DG, KSA, Brig. Hillary Kipkosgey hosts a team from Avanti Communications

The Acting Director General KSA, Brig. Hillary Kipkosgey today hosted a team from Avanti Communications led by their Group HR Director and Head of the Avanti Education program, Debbie Mavis. The discussion revolved around the education and outreach programs being implemented by both institutions as well as exploring potential for collaboration. The DG KSA briefed the Avanti about KSA’s activities including the Space Club program while the Avanti team shared more about the iMlango project.

iMlango is a pioneering e-learning education and outreach program by Avanti that uses satellite technology to deliver educational content to children in marginalized rural areas in Kenya. iMlango project, which is being implemented in 245 schools in Kenya, targets to improve education outcomes in maths, literacy and life skills.

iMlango initiative equips schools with ICT equipment and digital technology to deliver improved learning outcomes. KSA indicated its willingness to collaborate with Avanti to leverage on the existing iMlango initiative to disseminate content on the Space Club which focuses on four thematic areas; Earth Observation, Space Science, Space Systems Engineering and IT & Robotics. Both teams agreed to have follow up conversations to identify areas of collaboration.
