News & Updates
The Kenya Space Agency, in collaboration with STAR.VISION Aerospace, proudly announces the successful conclusion of the Spaceborne AI Algorithm Rideshare Program. This pioneering initiative empowered 58 university students from 14 Kenyan institutions to design, test, and deploy AI algorithms on STAR.VISION’s in-orbit Earth Observation (EO) platform. Their innovations tackled real-world challenges in:
- Maritime surveillance & vessel detection
- Land use/land cover classification
- Crop yield estimation & health monitoring
- Tea/coffee farm segmentation
Following a rigorous evaluation based on functionality, innovation, performance, commercial potential, and team responsiveness, three top-performing teams have been selected. 3 students representing these teams have been sponsored to attend a two-week Space Summer Camp in China (13–27 July 2025), hosted by Beihang University and STAR.VISION at the Hangzhou campus—where they’ll receive hands-on training in advanced space technologies.
To all participants: your creativity, dedication, and AI solutions were outstanding. During the upcoming closing ceremony, each of you will receive a Certificate of Achievement in recognition of your contribution to advancing AI in space.
