Kenya Space Agency Showcases Astro-Tourism at Jamuhuri Week Tourism Celebrations

The Kenya Space Agency (KSA) participated in this year’s Tourism Week celebrations held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) from 8–11 December, ahead of the national Jamuhuri Day commemorations. The event brought together tourism stakeholders, cultural institutions, and government agencies to highlight Kenya’s diverse and emerging tourism opportunities.

During the four-day exhibition, KSA captivated visitors with an immersive planetarium experience, offering the public an opportunity to learn about space science. The planetarium sessions provided an engaging introduction to astronomy, sparking curiosity and interest in Space.

Beyond education, KSA used the platform to champion Kenya as a prime astro-tourism destination. With its pristine dark skies, low light pollution and unique geographical vantage points, Kenya holds immense potential for stargazing, astrophotography, and space-themed travel experiences.
Kenya’s tourism offerings align with global trends where astro-tourism has become a fast-growing niche attracting both local and international travelers.

KSA’s participation highlighted the diversity of Kenya’s dynamic tourism offerings while enhancing public awareness of the value of space science.
