The Kenya Space Agency (KSA), in partnership with the Italian Space Agency (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana), successfully co-hosted the Third Italy–Africa Space Leaders Meeting at the Luigi Broglio Space Centre in Malindi, Kenya.
The two-day meeting brought together over 30 space leaders from 17 African countries, providing a platform to strengthen international cooperation in space activities. The discussions were held in line with the Mattei Plan, which aims to deepen collaboration between Italy and Africa, and also in view of Italy’s upcoming presidency of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) for 2026–2027.
The meeting reaffirmed a shared understanding that space is a strategic driver of innovation and socio-economic development across Africa, with space technologies playing a vital role in supporting areas such as agriculture, climate monitoring, communication, education, and sustainable growth.
