Malindi, Kenya – Lieutenant General Luca Goretti, Commander of the Italian Air Force, today visited the Luigi Broglio Malindi Space Center (LBMSC), where he was received by Maj Gen (Rtd) Amb. Joff Otieno, Chair of the Kenya Space Agency (KSA) Board, Brig Hillary Kipkosgey, Director General of KSA, and Dr. Eng. Munzer Jahjah, CEO of LBMSC.
During the visit, Lt. Gen. Goretti received a briefing from Dr. Jahjah on the center’s activities and ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing operations and strengthening the partnership between the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and KSA.
Lt. Gen. Goretti toured key sections of the facility, including the Remote Sensing Centre (Centre for Earth Observation), the Training and Education Centre, the Operations Control Centre, and the Space Museum. The museum highlights Kenya’s space history and pays tribute to Prof. Luigi Broglio, the visionary behind the San Marco project.
The visit reaffirmed Kenya and Italy’s commitment to deepening their collaboration in space science and technology, with a focus on joint projects for mutual benefit.
