KSA leads tree planting initiative at Konza Technopolis

On 27 March 2026, the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), in collaboration with Technopolis Development Authority (formerly Konza Technopolis Development Authority) and the Moi Air Base, conducted a tree-planting exercise at Konza Technopolis, Machakos County.

This initiative aligns with Kenya’s national target of planting 15 billion trees by 2032, a program designed to increase forest cover from 12% to 30%. Achieving this goal is a critical step in combating climate change and advancing environmental sustainability.

Representing the Director General, Col. Robert Oktoi, the Deputy CEO of the Luigi Broglio Malindi Space Centre underscored the importance of collective responsibility in environmental conservation. He emphasized that tree planting is both an investment in the planet’s future and a personal commitment to sustainability, echoing the legacy of Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai, who championed trees as powerful agents of change.

The activity reaffirmed the partners’ shared commitment to promoting a greener, more sustainable future while strengthening collaboration in support of national climate action efforts
