Kenya Space Agency Participates in the 2025 NewSpace Africa Conference.

Cairo, Egypt – The Kenya Space Agency (KSA) is participating in the 2025 NewSpace Africa Conference, taking place from April 21 to 24 and hosted by the Egyptian Space Agency. The conference, themed “Empowering Africa’s Innovation Through Space-Driven Solutions,” calls on the continent to harness space science and technology as a catalyst for innovation and sustainable development.

KSA joins a diverse delegation of government officials, private sector stakeholders, and international space organizations in discussing the pivotal role of space in advancing Africa’s development agenda. The event is organized by Space in Africa in collaboration with the African Union Commission, with the goal of deepening continental cooperation, fostering partnerships within the African space economy, and promoting space-based solutions tailored to African needs.

Day One Highlights

The opening day on April 21 featured high-level keynote presentations and ministerial panels centered on Africa’s future in space and the importance of strategic partnerships. Remarks by key figures such as H.E. Angelina Eichhorst (EU Ambassador to Egypt) and Dr. Valanathan Munsami (International Space University) set the tone for discussions around long-standing Africa-EU space partnerships. A ministerial panel brought together senior officials and thought leaders to explore policy frameworks, national space strategies, and innovation ecosystems aimed at enhancing Africa’s global space competitiveness.

In the afternoon sessions, focus shifted to updates from national space agencies and international collaborations. Heads of African space programs from Egypt, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and Namibia shared insights on progress, innovation, and coordination with the African Space Agency. Contributions from Airbus, the European Space Agency (ESA), and the French Space Agency (CNES) highlighted the importance of Earth observation and climate monitoring initiatives.

The day concluded with a strategic panel on the Africa-EU Space Programme, assessing its impact on socio-economic development and alignment with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the EU’s Global Gateway strategy. The discussions reinforced a shared commitment to using space as a transformative tool for sustainable development across Africa and Europe.
