On Tuesday 4 September 2025, the Director General of the Kenya Space Agency, Brig. Hillary Kipkosgey, hosted the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Kenya, H.E. Barlybay Sadykov, at the Agency’s Headquarters in Nairobi to discuss potential cooperation in the aerospace industry.
During the meeting, Ambassador Sadykov shared insights into Kazakhstan’s space program and invited Kenya to take part in the establishment of an Earth Observation (EO) satellite constellation of medium- and high-resolution satellites. The project would provide Kenya with the opportunity to own and operate its own satellite and foster technology transfer through involvement of Kenyan engineers.
On his part, Brig. Kipkosgey welcomed the proposal and reaffirmed his support for collaboration in satellite development, capacity building, and the adoption of Earth Observation technologies. He underscored the importance of creating digital platforms to apply these technologies in key sectors such as agriculture, natural resource management, and subsoil use.
The Kenya Space Agency continues to strengthen international cooperation to advance Kenya’s space capabilities for sustainable development.
