KSA Hosts OSPRI Delegation to Explore Strategic Space Collaboration

On 12/5/2025, the Director General of the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), Brig. Hillary Kipkosgey, welcomed a delegation from the Oriental Space Port Research Institute (OSPRI) of China. The delegation, led by Ms. Chu Na, the Deputy Director of Administration, visited KSA headquarters for a high-level technical engagement to explore potential areas of collaboration aimed at advancing Kenya’s space capabilities.

OSPRI is a prominent Chinese aerospace innovation institute that plays a central role in the development of the Oriental Maritime Space Port which is one of China’s flagship commercial launch hubs. The institute leads major programmes in maritime launch and recovery systems, advanced rocket propulsion and testing, satellite and payload development, intelligent remote sensing constellation design, spatiotemporal information infrastructure, and geospatial artificial intelligence.

The meeting provided an opportunity to explore possible areas of cooperation on satellite applications, high-resolution remote sensing technologies, data infrastructure, and emerging approaches in commercial launch and space engineering.

This engagement reinforces KSA’s commitment to strengthening strategic international partnerships and enhancing Kenya’s capabilities across the space value chain.
