KSA Education & Awareness Team in Moi Forces Academy on Aviation Career Day

On the First annual Aviation Career Day at the Moi Forces Academy-Lanet on 20 July 2024, the Kenya Space Agency Education and Awareness team engaged with students from about ten schools on the vast opportunities within the space sector.
The career day was a timely event, drawing students from different schools eager to explore potential career paths in aviation and the space sector.

Students had the opportunity to:
1. Learn about satellites and their applications: The KSA team demonstrated how satellites are developed and their applications in communication, weather forecasting, navigation, and environmental monitoring.
2. Understand astronomy and space science: Through engaging demonstrations, students learned about astronomy through a planetarium experience meant to teach them about the solar system, stars, and celestial bodies. Furthermore, they viewed the sun through a telescope to see its features.
3. Take lessons on rocket design and launch: The KSA team organized a hands-on activity in which students built and launched a water rocket.
4. Learn about Drones -The learners were shown practical applications of drones in mapping, agriculture, and surveillance, among other areas.
5. Learn about IT& Robotics -The KSA team demonstrated how information technology and robotics primarily work by demonstrating concepts of robot development and its functionality.

One of the highlights of the day was a series of talks by professionals in the aerospace, aviation, and Space sectors. Their inspiring career journeys, the challenges they faced, and the rewards of working in these dynamic fields left a lasting impression on the students and inspired them to dream big. The event highlighted the importance of education in these fields for the development of Kenya's aviation and space capabilities.
